A deliberately quiet website

Serving a web page requires a server to receive a request. Our hosting provider handles that request and, like any web host, may process standard technical data such as your IP address, your user agent string, and the URL you asked for, for the limited purposes of delivering the page and protecting the service from abuse.

YY does not use that technical data to identify or profile visitors or join it to advertising data. Limited operational logs may be available to YY and the hosting provider for delivery, reliability, and abuse prevention. If our hosting arrangement or use changes in a material way, we will update this page.

Email is the only way this site invites you to contact us, and it works the way email always does: if you write to one of our addresses, we receive your message, your address, and whatever you chose to put in it. We use correspondence to handle the matter you raised and related operational records; we do not add you to a marketing list.

Please do not send sensitive personal information or confidential material by email unless it is genuinely necessary for the thing you are contacting us about.

Paid products are sold through Polar (polar.sh), an external checkout that acts as our payment processor. When you buy, Polar — not this website — collects your email address and payment details and processes the payment under its own privacy policy. YY receives order records such as the product purchased and the buyer's email address so we can deliver what you bought; we never see your card details.

Our software — from Corpus Evidence to the paid and open-source tools listed on our projects page — runs on your machine. It reads the local files you point it at and writes its output locally. It does not upload the contents of your files, and this website receives nothing from it.

Anything we publish in the future that behaves differently will say so plainly, in its own documentation, before you run it.
